How to have a healthy diet and lifestyle
- Drink as much water as you can
Adults should drink at least 2 liters of water per day. Children between 1 or 2 liters. Water regulates the internal temperature of the body and removes toxins. On top of that water keeps you energized, helps your kidneys and clears your skin.
…And always remember: When you’re drinking water you are not drinking sugar-sweetened soda ’s or juices = no extra calories! That’s what I call a win-win situation.
- Don’t skip Breakfast
Research shows that breakfast-skippers actually eat more! So, make sure you don’t skip the first (and most important) meal of the day.
The healthier your breakfast = the more energized you will feel throughout the day.
- Eat a variety of food and keep an eye on portions
A well-balanced diet contains foods from each of the five food groups daily, in the recommended amounts.
What are the 5 major food groups?
- fruit
- vegetables
- lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, seeds, nuts, beans
- (whole) grain foods
- milk, yogurt, milk, cheese (alternatives)
- Eat at the right time
The best time for an easy-to-digest evening meal is between 17:00 and 20:00.
- Avoid late night snacks
Late night snacks will fill you with unnecessary calories and can disrupt your sleep. If you can’t give up your midnight snack, stick to seeds, fruits, unsalted nuts, and veggies.
Creating a healthy diet and lifestyle will be quite hard at first, but once you get used to it, you really don’t want to give it up!
